Suppressing one of the genes responsible for the differences between raptors and chickens — in this case, it’s a gene called Indian Hedgehog which is important to bone development — resulted in chickens that develop a full-length, tubular fibula connected at the ankle.
Are chickens the modern equivalent of the T-Rex?
Embryonic similarities have been examined between unborn chickens and Tyrannosaurus Rex DNA, proving that chickens are in fact the modern equivalent to the T-Rex. Comparable skeletal systems, skull structures, and anatomical build link chickens to the Tyrannosaurus Rex on a more physical scale than any other prehistoric animal.
Are chickens t rex?
It is now being accepted that dinosaurs evolved into birds over time, simultaneously getting smaller and less primitive in instinct. Embryonic similarities have been examined between unborn chickens and Tyrannosaurus Rex DNA, proving that chickens are in fact the modern equivalent to the T-Rex.
Although nowadays you see chickens are only eating seeds, their ancestor is one of the most feared predator at its time. A 68 million years old Tyrannosaurus Rex DNA was compared to DNA of 21 modern species of animals and from the analysis researchers found out that chickens are the closest one.
First there was the human arms for chickens that gave us all a good laugh, then we added huge muscles to these human arms, and now, there are these incredible T-Rex chicken arms. Chickens already look somewhat like dinosaurs, so it only makes sense that we give them arms that turn them into a Tyrannosaurus Rex.
This of course begs the query “Did dinosaurs have bones in their legs like chickens?”
Some believe that they ended up with chickens possessed of bone structure that matches the lower leg anatomy of a raptor. The dino-chicken leg bones look just like raptor leg bones, as visible here: Deinonychus, the dinosaur pictured here, is a raptor that lived in North America. Image courtesy of Universidad de Chile.
9 Answers 1) No a T-Rex is not a direct ancestor to any bird. Birds may have evolved from a clade of small theropod like dinosaurs, but are a different animal from a Tyrannosaur altogether. Rex and a chicken have a common ancestor in the therapod dinosaurs, so he’s more like a distant cousin to a chicken.
Will a hawk take care of my chickens?
The raptor family, which includes hawks, owls and eagles, have the intelligence to monitor habits, customs and differentiate changes. Throw a decoy outside and within a few days, you might see the hawk perched on top taking stock of your chickens.
How big is a Velociraptor compared to a chicken?
Velociraptor Was About the Size of a Big Chicken. For a dinosaur that’s often mentioned in the same breath as Tyrannosaurus rex, Velociraptor was remarkably puny. This meat-eater weighed only approximately 30 pounds soaking wet (about the same as a good-sized human toddler) and was just 2 feet tall and 6 feet long.
