Doctors do not recommend soy formula for the following babies :
Babies who suffer from colic because the switch won’t be helpful for the condition
Babies who are chronically “fussy”
Babies who have an allergy to cow’s breast milk protein (this is because these babies are likely going to be allergic to soy protein as well)
Infants who are at high risk for food allergies because soy happens to be a common allergen
You should never give the following types of milk to a baby under 1 year : condensed milkevaporated milkdried milkgoats’ or sheep’s milk (but it’s fine to use them when cooking for your baby, as long as they are pasteurised)other types of drinks known as “milks”, such as soya, rice, oat or almond drinkscows’ milk as a drink (but it’s fine to use it in cooking) .
How do you know if your baby needs soy formula?
The infant was born prematurely and hasn’t yet developed the lactase enzyme he needs (but will given enough time ).. One or both of the parents are lactose intolerant. Is it true that soy formula is bad for babies?
