Can oats make you tired?

The grains in oatmeal cause your body’s insulin levels to rise, which in turn increase your body’s blood sugar. In addition, the oats contain melatonin, creating the perfect recipe for a snooze. Though many of our culinary delicacies contain red meat, its difficult-to-digest properties can make you feel tired.

One is that you may be having an insulin response (well you should have an insulin response but it may be that yours is a little over enthusiastic) however since most people can eat oats without getting tired, I would suggest you check that out with your doctor. There is a simple test which can determine if your body handles insulin efficiently.

OTHERS are only ok if their oatmeal includes protein and fats like milk, eggs or nut butter. Still OTHERS are best served not eating oatmeal at all. I am so tired of the dogma around diets, and this comes from all sides whether proponents of high carb, low carb or balanced diets etc.

The simple answer is your physiology may not thrive on a high carb, grain-based breakfast. There’s nothing wrong with you!
