Millet is a town in central Alberta, Canada. It is approximately 40 kilometres (25 mi) south of Alberta’s capital city of Edmonton. The Town of Millet was named in honour of August Millet, who was believed to be a canoeist for Father Lacombe.

In the 2016 Census of Population conducted by Statistics Canada, the Town of Millet recorded a population of 1,945 living in 822 of its 866 total private dwellings, a -7% change from its 2011 population of 2,092. With a land area of 3.72 km 2 (1.44 sq mi), it had a population density of 522.8/km 2 (1,354.2/sq mi) in 2016.

Millet doubled its population in a short 10 years between 1983 and 1993. Current population is 1,945 and we are located between Leduc and Wetaskiwin on Highway 2A – just outside Edmonton, Alberta. Proud to be.
Millet originated more than 4,000 years ago from a wild west African grass. This superfood tolerates adverse growth conditions and serves as an important food source in many parts of the world. Plus, it grows great here in Colorado, and has one of the lowest water requirements of any grain crop.
