From its origins as a wild vine in Central and South America to the thousands of varieties grown around the world today, beans have evolved to be one of the world’s most important and versatile crops. The common bean ( Phaseolus vulgaris) originated as a wild vine in Central and South America.

While we were writing we ran into the query “Where did beans come from?”.

The Phaseolus genus in the Fabaceae plant family contains over 80 species of known beans throughout the world. The first bean plant is thought to have originated in the Andes and other parts of Mesoamerica, and it quickly spread to other parts of the world.
